The IC Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program funded 17 new fellows in FY 2007. The core funding of the program, provided by the Central Intelligence Agency's Office of the Chief Scientist, consists of ten Fellowships per year, two designated for each of the following agencies; CIA, DIA, NGA, NRO, NSA. Additional funds are contributed by DTO, CIA's Office of the Chief Scientist, and other members of the IC who wish to advance research in their areas of interest.

Members of the Intelligence Community (IC) can participate in the program as IC Advisors and/or as Funding Contributors.

1. IC Advisor - The IC Advisor oversees the direction and outcomes of the research, and facilitates publication in journals and presentation at the IC Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Colloquium. The IC Advisor must be an overt Federal employee and a senior-level scientist in the Intelligence Community and must attend the annual Colloquium. In addition to being an IC Advisor, members of the IC community can also be funding partners for the program.

Requirements to Submit Topics:
Must be a Federal employee of the CIA, DIA, DNI, FBI, IARPA, NGA, NRO, NSA;
If not a member of one of the Selection Panel Agencies, must be a member of one of the sixteen Director of National Intelligence (DNI) agencies, and must work with/or be a funding contributor to sponsor the research topic and fellow; and
Must serve a two-year term as advisor.

Requirements for Participation:
Submit topics of interest to the Intelligence Community during the annual Topic Call;
Oversee the direction and outcomes of the research;
Attend the annual Colloquium; and
Facilitate Postdoctoral Fellow publication in journals and presentation at the annual IC Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Colloquium.

2. Funding Contributor - Members of the IC can contribute funds to sponsor additional Fellows in their areas of interest. The Funding Contributor also can be the IC Advisor or can designate an Advisor in their place.

Requirements for Participation:
Must be a Federal employee of one of the sixteen Director of National Intelligence (DNI) agencies;
Designate funds to a specific topic for at least two years of research (typically $240,000); and
Evaluate proposals received from Principal Investigators for research on their topic.
